Since its creation in 1970, the Centre hospitalier de l'Université Laval (CHUL) Research Centre has experienced outstanding growth and has worked its way up to rank among the leading biomedical research centres in the world. This growth, a direct result of the work and competence of its scientists, has major scientific, economic and social impacts on the Quebec City region, the Province of Quebec, and all of Canada. It also contributes remarkably to the advancement of medical knowledge and to the fight against disease.

The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Society of Quebec is a non-profit community organization whose mission is exclusively dedicated to the improvement of living conditions for people suffering from ALS and the support of their family members. Founded in 1983 by people suffering from the disease, their relatives and their friends, the Society is duly constituted by letters of patent under Part III of the Quebec Companies Act. A board of directors consisting of from 11 to 15 people oversees the proper functioning of the organization and the achievement of its objectives.
