President's Message |
Hello,
The Fondation André-Delambre is completing its fourth year of existence. The foundation was created to improve the lives of people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Our goal is to help patients better their daily lives and to lighten the burden on families. We also support research to introduce new management strategies to Quebec and ultimately to find a cure.
The year 2007 saw the extension of programs undertaken in previous years. Our patient support is provided through the auspices of our lead partner, the ALS Society of Quebec, whose activities focus on improving the quality of life of ALS patients. Our support of research and development has continued to be a success. This fall, we held the third international ALS symposium. This meeting of neuroscientists from around the world has now become the main forum for scientific exchanges in neuroscience aimed at finding an eventual cure. We maintain two clinical programs to train neurologists in ALS, and there are now two centres of excellence in Quebec.
The coming year should see the renewal of ongoing programs. In addition, we are planning a partnership with CHUM that, if funded, will result in a wing devoted to ALS and neurodegenerative diseases. This lofty goal will help formulate better treatments for our patients.
We count on your generosity to enable us to continue to support existing programs and to undertake new projects. The Fondation warmly thanks its donors. André would be very proud of the work accomplished to date. We hope that you are equally proud. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Gilles Cloutier |
